My Maktok passed away suddenly on 6 June 2011. She left us without properly saying goodbye. The sad news came as a shock to my family, let alone to me who is thousand of miles away from home. When I heard the news, I was a few hours away from sitting my Financial Law paper and I could not think whether I should be sad or worry about my paper at the same time.

I have been thinking about her until today, as much as I have accepted her passing. Whenever I think of her, I can only cry and reminisce of my childhood memories - she took care of me when I was growing up and I have always been one of the 'favourite cucus' to her, the one that will always have a dear place to her heart.

I saw her the last time when I was back for a short trip to KL in April. Mak G and I sent her back to Muar for a day-trip since she wanted to go back home after spending 2 weeks at my Paksu's home in Puchong. The visit was brief and short and I never knew that it would be a one final visit. Initially, I was quite upset with Mak G for asking me to go back to Muar with her as I just arrived from London the day before. No matter how shitty I was feeling at that time - battling with a minor jet-lag, fatigue and not able to spend a quiet day with Y at home, I relented as I did not want to hurt Mak G's feelings. I slept and kept quiet most of the time in the car as a sign of protest. That was me being childish.

I did help Maktok to prepare her bed. Her brass bed was rickety and had one broken leg so I exchanged with another bed in Abah, my grandfather's room. Mak G wanted to buy a new bed then, but as we were rushing to go back to KL, Mak G told Maktok that she had to make do with the temporary bed and will buy a new one later.

When Mak G was in the hospital doing her knee surgery, she called my phone and apologised so many times for not being able to be there for my mother.

It is all in memories now. Going back to Muar will not be the same anymore. Abah has to live alone without Maktok by his side. And soon, Abah's time will come too, despite us not knowing when.

I am sad beyond words. This is the second time that someone very close to me has passed on, unexpectedly. I usually choose to hide my feelings. I may look strong but I am human too - I can cry even if I have the slightest misunderstanding with Y over petty issues. And being away far from home has made me the most sensitive person that I can be, what more with struggling with my final exams at the moment.

Maktok, thank you for taking care of me and I am sorry I was not there before you were laid to rest. Trust me, Ily sedih sampai hari ni sebab tak dapat jumpa Maktok, padahal Ily dah nak balik dalam beberapa lagi...

Q1 2011 Recap

Time sure flies. It's it a little more than halfway through the year and so many things have happened. Noticed that we did not update this blog often enough thus might have forget some events that have happened. Let's recap the 1st Qtr:

January 11

I seriously can't remember how I spent my NewYear. Oh wait. I can. Dinner at WadiHadramawt with Mess, Enon, Temah & Mimah on New Year's eve followed by supper at BSC. I don't remember making any resolutions but I do remember freaking out about turning 30.

Yup, turned 30 in Jan. Still feels the same.

February 11

Odah gleefully joined the club.

March 2011
Gayah's turn to age. We had a makan2 at Nong & Jimmy for the March babies (Assya and Maznee as well) but sadly could not find any photos of the dinner. Mess, Meah and I had an enjoyable mini vacay in KK - you can read it here. March is also when Odah announced that she plans to take a break from work and spend 2 months in a Muay Thai camp in Phuket - talk about life changing experience.

That's it for the 1st Qtr. Will write an entry on the happenings in Q2 soon.

Day 2 starts with Island Hopping Miami style bebeh!! We got inspired by H and dedicate our Island Hopping theme to him :)

Took boat from Sutera Harbour Resort, to 2 Island ( Sapi & Mamutik). It was nice boat ride with all MS surrounding us..(seriously rasa kat Miami ok..ahah)

While there, we were treated as if we are some VIPs, (my FULL name asyik kena sebut, sbb I did d booking)Upon arriving at 1st Island - Sapi, the guide (Ryan) was giving us special attention, advising us where to go etc ( the MS was trying to listen to what he was saying ( he only gave instruction to us three..and ignoring those MS) Felt great coz lelaki itu tidak bias..ahahah.

We spent almost 2 hours there..(starting off with some light breakfast of Indomie & ommelette from the Sapi cafe, then snorkelled the hour away...)

then we are off to our 2nd island...( the boat is special for only 3 of us..) how cool is that!!!

but d boat driver, mistaken us for Manukan Island instead of Mamutik Island, then we need to share our precious boat with some other tourist yg nak balik shore. ( the driver dropped us to Mamutik Island before sending them off) dah x special dah! Well, what to do.

Hm..where shall I start..

I've wanted to be a blogger tegar ( where you blog non stop and everytime) hence I think..I need a new camera that shot pretty pics. But too bad..I have a penyakit we called " gadget challenge" so I cannot bergaya with all the big camera aka Connie size. So what I did, I texted Enon..and she advised me to buy S95. Thanks Enon!! I am in love with it :) It somehow makes me look like a pro when shooting pics..ahaha...

*(but dont count on me to materialize my blogger tegar angan2..nak tulis 1 entry pun took me 1 hour ok..)

So, I decided..where else to try it out better than the trio trip to KK. It was sooo good!! The food is over the top..and you know what we enjoyed the most?! Well..you'll see later.

Total for all these together( 3 sticks of Prawn, 3 sticks of sotong & Ikan bawal satu ( not sure bawal or what, but belasah ajelah kan) : RM30! (actually RM33, but we mintak discount..ahaha)

Seriously...we were overdosed of Prawns (total i ate today probably close to 10 pieces of prawns!!)...need to check my blood pressure later.

That superb dinner ended our Day 1 in KK.. gotta love the food :) More pics to come on for the rest of the trip. Pstt: I didn't managed to snap our cow motive seater MYVI..too busy oogling other things. haha..

I WANT my neck back!

Hello.

It’s been long since I last wrote. I opened the blog today after so long, and saw entries by DK –with lots of nice pictures (seronok eh u jalan-jalan). Then I feel like writing too, dunno about what yet, maybe some updates on what’s happening around me and maybe some craps too.

Think. Think . Think.

Oh yes, I’m leaving Jerantut. Finally!! I’ve been working in Pahang since 2008 so I think it’s high time for me to come back. Not that I don’t like being here, but I think I like KL more haha.

I’ve worked in Temerloh and Jerantut. Gained so much experience, worked with very nice people, made lots of friends, learnt a lot of new things and ate a lot of good foods – All the good things!

The only ‘bad’ thing is - I GAINED SO MUCH KILOS!!! Not in Temerloh, but in Jerantut (that means since one year back, yes, in that short period of time!) Seriously, I’m not kidding. Food’s too good here and my appetite has gone wild, crazy wild! U don’t have to go find foods, foods will come to you. Especially since my surgery, polypharmacy and all, I noticed that I’ve ballooned to an alarming rate!

Don’t believe me? Do I need to prove myself to youuu? Oh well, I think that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. I wanna share, I don't mind really, coz I wanna change!

* I recently took a passport sized picture for visa purpose, they need one taken at least 6 months back. The ones I have is from 2008 – before I came to Temerloh . Now let’s compare *

Wait. Let me laugh again. I laughed so hard when I saw them side by side. My mum went OMG!! Left is from 2008. Right is last Monday . Not so clear coz I took them with my ipod. I’ll show you the real ones when I see you guys if u want to see lah.

See! Face is like pinggan and I have no neck now and my eyes look smaller (I have to cover my them, nanti masuk Sinar Harian pulak). note : Sinar Harian is the famous tabloid in Jerantut

Pfffttt! Gelak gelak jugak kan.But I must do something to get my neck back! I need to lose the ~~double chin~~ triple chin.

I have a plan. And no, it’s not as extreme as liposuction or gastric bypass. Will keep u people updated kalau jadi! And as of now, I have to make sure I get my ass back to KL first! I give Jerantut another week, 2 weeks tops! Wish me luck!

It's hard that Y and I don't live together. We don't get to do stuff that married couples do - hmmm like weekly movie outings at the cinema or go jogging at the park(haha). It is unlikely that we'll get to celebrate our first wedding anniversary together this May as I'll be busy preparing for my finals and Y will only be coming here when my course ends in September. So when he was here the past three weeks, we went overboard by going to different places for 3 weeks non-stop. The last week he was here, he decided to treat me to Istanbul, saying that it's for our anniversary celebration.

I had a loveleh day out yesterday - the sun was out despite the weather forecast telling us that there was going to be a bit of rain during the day.

J and I went to Stratford-upon-Avon. Yes, W. Shakespeare's 'hood - his birth place, the home he used to stay, his wife's home in Shottery, place he was buried. You name it, everywhere you go, it's all about Shakespeare (and English tearooms!).

We took the 6.30am train because it was the cheapest option at 12quid return, which means we had to wake up at 4.45am the latest to catch the 5.30am bus to Paddington St. Mmg sah cari nahas, as what both of us said repeatedly to each other the night before.

Stratford was a perfect place to unwind after our hectic week at school (that's J, not me). The place boasts many fine and beautifully preserved Tudor, Elizabethan, and Jacobean buildings. The River Avon runs across the market town and since the weather was beautiful yesterday, there were boats going up and down the river as though it's spring already. But most importantly, there is a Crabtree & Evelyn Tearoom along Stratford's High Street for us to taste the warm scones, preserved jams and don't-count-the-calories-but-fat-accumulating clotted cream.

The day went by smoothly. We even squeezed in a bit of shopping at C&E and PT. If only we had more time because the shops there closed at 6pm, boohoo! We hurried to the train station to catch a train to London, with full confidence that we should take the 5 plus pm one (as what I checked from the timetable on the website earlier)and from there onwards, my so-called quick-thinking, sharp mind went down the longkang, even worse the garbage dump perhaps!

ACT 1, Scene 1 : At the train station

I : I don't know how to read the timetable J. It looks very different. Are we going to Marylebone or Paddington? (please recall the fact that I have looked at the timetable before coming to the train station)

J : We can get to Marylebone because our ticket says "London Terminals". Ahhh, there's one at 5.40pm. We'll take that one.

I : Ok, let's but I need to go to the toilet first *looks at watch*

J : Ok

I : Is it 5.45pm now?

J : Eh yeslah! I. we missed the trainlah dammit!

Lesson learned : I was so engrossed with C&E and PT's stuff that I forgot about our train. I should stop myself from going into retail industry if I ever need a job. I'll lose every sanity I have in me. Kahkahkah.

ACT 2, Scene 1 : Morrison

I : We should go to Morrison, jom? Sebelah tu je.

J : Let's

At Morrison, we ooh-ed and aah-ed at the groceries because it was cheap(er) than in London. We became makcik for the next 1hour - so we bought salmon steaks, tartare sauce, Innocent juice, crisps, Kopparberg cider sans alcool, 3 tubs of B&J, etc. Very the makcik. Period. Memang dahsyat!

I : *whilst paying* J, why is my card rejecting me?

J : Idk

I : *try 3 times* J, I think I forgot my PIN. I am dumb.

End

Lesson learned : Again, it's all about my issue on retail despite Morrison being a normal your day-to-day supermarket for groceries shopping. I was too excited when I saw B&J was at 3quid p/tub and they have ALL the flavours and Innocent juices for 99p. J, on the other hand was too excited to see her favourite rice crisps were in abundance and got herself 3 bags! The problem started at the till when my card was declined for 3 bloody times. Kesudahannya, I now have to contact my bank to unlock my card. I feel very very dumb for punching in the same PIN wrongly for 3 times in a row. My confidence level has dropped from 10 to -10 now. Hahaha

After that, we both left Morrison to the train station. I had to pay using my cc instead (bummer) and waited for another 40mins before our train arrived. and finally reached London around 12am.

I now have a bigger issue to solve - to sort out my card or else I am penniless for the next 7 days (because the banks in UK are not as efficient and effective as what I thought they should be). But I should be happy for these purchases right?

Cinque Terre (Part 1)

I'm in my room at the moment - it has been raining in London since mid-day and damn, this is so depressing. I need the sun! So after hours of chatting with Senah, exchanging updates and gossips, here I am in an attempt to blog about my recent trip to Cinque Terre.

Mak G has this coffee-table book at home "Top Places in Europe To Go" (or something similar like that). I don't know why she bought the book in the first place but I have been flipping through the book over and over again since she bought it, imagining myself to visit the places featured therein. So when Y & I had the opportunity to choose a destination of a place featured in the book, we quickly settled on Cinque Terre because -

(i) of the magnificent views and sceneries;
(ii) it's in Italy, neither one of us have been there;
(iii) we get to eat authentic Italian food; and
(iv) we get to exercise after eating those yummy foods by hiking and walking to the villages.

(Enough excuses, no? Maybe you can add a last paragraph after (iv) "a place to gawk at Italian guys".)

We took a flight to Genova, the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. From Genova, it was a 2-hour train ride to Riomaggiore - the last village in Cinque Terre, if you're coming from Pisa, Genova or Milan.

Bestfriends for keep

Last Saturday was a bang. What more could you ask when your girlfriends decided to throw a (2-in-1) farewell for you. Best still, you got to spend the night together and despite a long day of drama at home which made you missed seeing a dear friend who came to say farewell to you and an iftar with the girlfriends together, you went ahead with the plans as promised i.e to have some fun with them, although arriving later than you were supposed to.

And so you felt 18 again, like old times - you did silly things, laughed over stupid and lame jokes, watched your wedding video and DVD, binged on food, took funny photos and slept only after sahur (and woke up terribly late the next day!). These are the things you really wish would never end, hoping it would last more than just a night.

You will miss them terribly for the good times spent and they will miss you too, because little that they know, there are two of you who will be leaving the country soon. But you hope this feeling will only be temporary because you will anticipate to see them again when they visit you soon and relive the moments you wish that you are 18 again.

Life in m1r1 not so bad afterall. definitely no traffic jam.. everywhere u go is 10- 15 min.. or in my case slightly later due to my love- hate relationship with punctuality. ahaha. bet the rest of the you agree with this. Though i've improved a lot here. but not without force! ahaha. Here i got to have my own sweet time because i live only 10minutes away from office n it is freaking straight line!!! direction to office- go straight until u meet the office. sweet huh!!

After moving in to my newly rented place, I did what others did...housewarming!!! Lotsa food! its like a galore..i truly enjoyed it. Since it will be superbly long to wait for me to ever cook for a lot of people..ahahah.. snippets of the event below..

not only that...in KayEl, can you do housewarming at 730am before off to work? hello...here we can!! went for a breakfast housewarming on Friday morning, and managed to be in the office back before 9am. cool huh!! cant beat that babe! Of course not my house lah.. not in million years i will invite people for breakfast..hahah..ppl might have to bring their own food for breakfast if it was my place.

Moving on...

I now can fulfill my wish to ensure my passport will finish on time before it expires 2014..why? hello..every weekend I can drive to another country..a very rich country indeed with super hot leader!!

Xty and PQ came to M1r1 last weekend and we had a full schedule!! Saturday we went to BruN31 to eat SUSHI!!!! and also to bring PQ for sight seeing,thanks to Amal1a for driving us. Too bad it was raining, so cant really enjoy the view. but we managed to accomplished the main task:

1) eat Sushi - heaven ok.
2) buy kain
3) clear Supersave aisle for doritos, cheetos and etc.

all checked!! We even ate Jollybees.yummy overload nachos (no pics though..too hungry to take)

As we reached M1r1 ard 8pm..off we go to a BBQ event. @z1an organized a BBQ coz baby Sar@h is here.. me and sarah say cheese for the photo ops..she is such a gentle baby...so like the mother..:) Z3t1, next time come, stay at my place pulak ok.

Come next day....
Sunday was hectic! We try to cover everything before Xty and PQ's evening flight. So we mix and match everything together.

Started with super tamak breakfast. PQ cant decide which Sw@k specialty she wants more..So we decided to go for both. Mee Jawa with ayam goreng special and laksa Sw@k. Both at different place but jalan yg sama.

We started at Hole number 9 for the mee jawa..then chop chop we eat...we went to Hole number 16 for the laksa...(it was sedapppppp..me say yes!) Wondering why the place called Hole number bla bla...because it is located nearby golf course. Ok..i was lying... for Hole number 9, it was located nearby...for Hole number 16, it was literally on the course itself!! you have to walk pass by avid golfer while they try to put their golf ball..and there we were walking through the green area..ahahaha...sorry pakcik...we have no intention to disturb your game..just that we need to eat..:)

As for lunch, we brought PQ to try Mee Kolok..at @wg M@hy@n cafe..my first time there as well, and it is not Beemers standard..but fine by me..still acceptable. :) After chatting while eating..suddenly we have the urge to try rojak and ice kacang...(immediately after finish eating ok..) off we go to a kedai that i dont recall the name, but know the place..so no worries girls, if you have the urge to eat ice kacang or rojak while at M1r1, i can totally bring you there :)..

**psst...when are you coming then? ahaha

Lastly, we wrapped up our day with a sunset view at Espl@nade. M1r1 is a city that by the beach, and easy access to public beaches like this one. It was nice..to tell you the truth..if not because bringing PQ, i wouldn't even come to Esplanade at this time ard. (the other time was a team event during Sunday breakfast..so I have to come..ahah) The sunset view was nice, and we had great time...kinda a nice closure for the evening before Xty and PQ catch their flight off to KK.

So my darling tobletarians, when are you up from your bum bum and come bring me some love here at M1r1?!!!

2. Senah, Enon, Odah, Temah & Gayah started a girl band and became an overnight singing sensation - wootwoot!

3. Meah is still far far away in Miri - We miss you Meah, do come back and visit us soon.

4. I have 'happily' stopped exercising and have put on whatever weight that i have lost previously (and maybe more :P)

Mess & Nai, you guessed it right! We were at Rizalman's SPOSA! Little did I know that Sposa means 'bride' in Italian. If I googled it right-lah. Unless it means something else ... hmmm tuh lah. Haritu tak nak tanya Rizalman, malu-malu kucing pulak ... . (Frankly, I think I was a wee bit starstruck... he he he. )

Kiah emailed her gorgonzilla bridesmaids, asking whether we want to tag along for her first fitting. My immediate reaction was HELL YEAH KIAH! COUNT ME IN! It's Rizalman we are talking about here. Siapa tak nak ikuttt??? (Ehh no lahh Kiah, of course I went because of you. Rizalman who?)

So how was it I hear you say?

You mean the maestro or the dress? :)

I was expecting him to be snotty and mr. high & mighty, but boy I was wrong, 'cause he was verrry nice and friendly.

A whole lot nicer than SB I tell you! Ehhhh, by the way, kenapa dia re-brand his label aaah?? He's not doing so welll issit?? Dah tutup kedai dekat Damas kan?? Hahaha. I sound very the kepochi kan? But all I gotta say to him is, what goes around comes around. Lain kali treat people nicely. Even the not so glamour & kaya ones...hhhmmphh! (Although my baju turned out nice, but that doesn't count!)

Eh. I'm digressing. Sorry.

Ok. Back to Kiah's baju. Of coursela cantik!!! Gorgonzilla Bridesmaids approved. Senah, you would think so too I'm sure if you were there. But of course I can't post a clear picture of her dresses...or else it won't be a sooprisee. The rest of you peeps will just have to wait for the wedding. To you Toblaters, I can show you guys pictures during our meet-ups. Yang SX18 and PG13 pictures also got!! We'll never look at Kiah the same way again...

Believe it or not all pictures below were snapped AFTER we said our goodbyes and Odah & I were already well seated in the car. HAHAHA. Dah masuk kereta siap keluar balik sebab we realised that we DID NOT HAVE OUR PHOTOS TAKEN WITH 'THE RIZALMAN'. *Slaps forehead*. And how kind of him to entertain our crazy antics. I told you he was nice didn't I? (And psstt, he has nice skin too! Should've asked his beauty secrets. ;p)

I don't know about you ladies out there but I am having a hell of a time preparing for my wedding. Everything is so serba tak kena and I hate thinking about the whole process - hantarans, baju kahwin, make up, shoes, wedding favours, songs to be played during reception, EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN THING!

I wish I can complain endlessly but this has got to stop because right now I am having a stiff neck and anytime I can have a nervous breakdown. No, I'm not joking. The only thing that I enjoy doing is ... nothing currently.

BUT...

As much as I hate doing the preparations, I still make sure everything is done on time. I secretly enjoy meeting up the designers and wedding decorator, searching for the perfect ring and jewellery to go with the bajus, trying out shoes and more shoes, the flowers for the hand bouquet, semualah although I have to admit, assisting someone else's wedding is so much fun than preparing your own. So I guess I have to live with this love-hate feeling until my wedding is over.

So if anyone of you need my help, I'll be glad to do so - maybe it could make me feel better for not putting 110% effort for my own wedding. I have many important contacts, tons of bridal magazines and wedding stuff that I can give/lend them to you. Maybe if you're lucky, I'll let you try my wedding dress(es). Nak?

ADDENDUM

Actually this entry is pointless - am not making any sense! I wanted to share with you girls on my journey towards marital bliss (like how other bloggers will write) but nah, I simply can't. Why don't we wait until the end of the week because I'm supposed to go for my first fitting with my designer. Hopefully the bajus will be as fabulous as the designer himself!

OHMAIGARRDD RESULTS!

Forgive me for I know this is a little overdue :)

So if you're reading this now, you already know what this blog and what the toblater's TBL is all about. Six lovely ladies, with the support of two iron women gunning for the title of the Biggest Loser over six months (or seven, was it?)

Every month between the inception to the finale saw a weigh-in session, and I saw the girls go to the extent of starving themselves for the critical few hours before stepping on the scale! Having known all of you for over ten years, I can't believe that you girls actually got yourselves into and through this, and for that alone, I reckon everybody deserves much kudos :D

And so... six (or seven months) passed and it all came down to the finale in Bali. The final weigh-in took place a few days before we left for the 5-days trip. Unfortunately, Meah, who was in Miri was unable to participate.

Also unfortunately, everyone was occupied with it being the final weigh-in that no one took photos of the monumental moments, heh heh. I was the only one who knew the results of the final weigh-in, and of course, the winner!

The finale was held on our third night in Bali, at the Villa we stayed in Kerobokan. AJK Makanan (that's me, Meah, Esah, Senah & Kiah) cooked our own dinner of spaghetti, grilled chicken and baked potatoes, with creme caramel for desserts. The food was yummy (of course)! Everyone was all dolled up and dressed in pareo for the dinner, tucking in and abandoning all caution now that the results were final already :P

After dinner, we adjourned to the living room and started with the results announcement (Gayah, you were missed, mwah mwah!). Senah and Kiah kindly prepared Powerpoint slides before dinner, so all I had to do was announce the results. They did such great work so I'll let the slides tell the story:

We've been talking about it for ages....and it is now coming to an end : (

It is now the start of our 4th day in Bali and our trip here so far has been beyond our wildest imagination - being chat up by the Custom officers, performing in front of a wild crowd, kissed by a MI, swimming under the moonlight and cooking 4-course meal in the villa are among the things that we have experienced so far. Temah, Enon, Meah and Odah will be surfing with the MS in a few hours time and later we will all be going to meet the monkeys at Uluwatu and have seafood dinner by the beach at Jimbaran. Hopefully all will go well as planned.

In the mean time, we are all resting at our superb 3-bedroom villa after too-much-fun-time at our very own private swimming pool - Heaven!!!

Will share more in the next blog entry :D

So, there you have it.

The countdown timer has been doing its job diligently. In less than 24hours, on foreign soil is where we shall all be.

To the Toblaterians, good luck for the results! May the 7 months of hardwork finally pays off! To Gayah, we know your spirit will be partying with us in Bali (so don't feel too bad) and your physical being will be supporting us from 1990 kilometres away (by constantly checking the blog for updates) ;p.

Good luck to Mess too, who is on judging duty & safeguarding the results til the Finale night.

Final Weigh-in!

To those of you who are not aware.... this would be our final week before the BIG FINALE in Bali. The girls (sans moi) will be leaving for Denpasar in 2 days!! Woohoooo!

So we had our Final Weigh-in last Sunday. This time, Mess was around as the independent judge. She would also be responsible for announcing the winner at the FINALE. Our very own Sarimah. :) Do tune in for her entry on BIG FINALE Night too, as she has graciously agreed to become our guest blogger for blow-by-blow account of what happened on that night.

Back to what happened on Sunday. Senah & Meah couldn't join us due to headache and work commitments in Miri. So it was just Enon & I for team 2 against all Team 1. (Irrelevant info to be shared with Meah & Senah: Kiasu Odah had to change into another supposedly light-weight pants, courtesy of Temah. Pffftttt!). Suffice to say, everything went in a flash. We were driven by our growling tumtums! It didn't take us long to decide, so off to Tropicana we go!

It's San Fran Steakhouse for lunch. Both trainers were not around so there were no holding back! :D

Fish & Chips/Mac & Cheese/Hamburgers/Mashed potatoes/Baked chicken????? (And we were supposed to 'celebrate' the last weigh-in by not ordering healthy. Look at the portion too!). Not in pic is Mess' Chicken pasta which was quite yumms.

Hah. Kiah must be so proud.

We then adjourned to Starbucks. It was bitter sweet. One of our last Starbucks sessions with 30% off. Sobs!

Now look at that! You'll be missed. Coffee will never taste as good.

Enon insisted we switched to comfy chairs. Kiasu (again) Odah squeezed herself next to Esah who reluctantly but willingly gave up her comfy armchair just to save herself.

Esah showed the girls some choreography for the FINALE. Hahahhaha. It was awesome! Check out the video here. Don't forget to practice yo! If he can do it so can you!

The real reason we switched seat was to stalk him and her. NOT! But it was fun playing paparazzi. Check out my mad skills yo! Too bad my cam can't zoom far enough.

Our lovely Meah works with Shell Malaysia

She was based in KL since she first joined the company until 3 weeks ago, when she left us for Miri.
We have mixed feelings regarding her transfer. Sad and happy.
Sad because we’re not gonna be able to see her as frequent as before.
And of course happy, because she is progressing in her career. Embarking on a new life (surrounded by Mat Sallehs) n making lotsa money!

You are sorely missed my darling!
Can’t wait for us to be reunited di B.A.L.I in few days time.

We (Enon, sis & i) went to Tioman for our Advanced Open Water Diving course last weekend
Super tiring as we had to complete the knowledge review and dives within 1 1/2 day!
The worst part : Sea sick, and wek wek everytime on board. Oh and my buoyancy still sucks
The best part : We saw dolphins on our way to Chebeh!*grins*, mandi manda at air terjun + the Passion fruit plucking and makan2 in Kluang..Burrpppp

Everything's so blurry

Aaaaahhh!

I've just collected my new set of glasses from the specs shop (astig power naik), but the left eye is blur compared to the right :(

My mom suspected its due to my inability to keep things nice and clean. Yes, I know my room tu bersepah ala pig sty, but that does not reflect a person's cleanliness! It's just some magazine and small items here and there ...plus, i do vacuum every other week. hermp

Then, my mom continued babbling about the mud from the bootcamp etc etc etc. And that... got me pissed. You see, I've started bootcamp early this month and I absolutely love it (despite waking up at 4.50am). The results = brilliant - body a bit toned, stamina improved, meet some really nice and inspiring ppl (one actually lost 6kgs after a few mths in bootcamp)! -->nanti i buat another entry for bootcamp :D

Suprisingly, I did not argue back and simply senyap and walk away. OK OK, I senyap mainly cos sometimes I need her help to wash the tshirt (hihi).

Anyway, this blur vision is really annoying. Need to see eye specialist asap. Hope it's nothing serious...

Weigh-in and Putrajaya Night Run

Firstly, congratulations to Team 1 for unofficially wining the 4th weigh-in. *clap*clap*.

We celebrated our win that by joining the Putrajaya Night Run that night. Our sifu (kiah) ran the half marathon and the rest of team + mess did the 7.7km race.

We were really hungry before the run and wanted to grab McD sebagai alas perut tetapi plan tergendala kerana kami tersesat ke Nilai on the way to Putrajaya (i personally think that it's a sign from God) and only reached there 15 minutes before the registration time. So, saya pun berlarilah (or berjalan) dgn perut yg sungguh lapar. The only thing that kept me going was the tought that there's a possibility that my thighs will be smaller after the race (which it did not). Nevertheless we had fun.

Would i join a 10km run after this?

Definitely not.

A fortnight ago, Esah, Meah, Mess and I went for a quick getaway to Melaka. We dedicated the trip to Cik Me'ah who will be migrating to Miri very soon. My faithful Mr Wiggie drove us down, arriving in Melaka just in time for a ~~hefty~~ light lunch @ Donald & Lily's, a cosy little Baba & Nyonya place just nearby Jonker Walk. Famous for its cendol & Curry Laksa, we all had our fair share [except for Cik Esah, who tricked us cause she only ordered taukua rojak for lunch! Deymm you!] hehehe.

We then walked along Jonker Walk to ease our gastrointestinal tracts.

And then we found this.

We then spent the afternoon exploring Mahkota Parade [transl. lepak @ Starbucks, minum kopi and gossiping] & wandering around in Dataran Pahlawan [transl. beli Cakar Ayam]. A few hours later, as the sun started setting in the horizon, we made our way to ---- [Esah, fill in the blanks please], a seafood joint located about 1/2 hour from Malacca town. Nice Malay seafood cooking, though we made the mistake of ordering too many chilli-based dishes. Bumped into a senior of ours back in high school, who now resides in the United States.

[For Toblaterians, 10 pts shall be awarded for guessing correctly who that person is]

After dinner, we headed back to Jonker Walk for the night-time experience this time. Huge crowd, that's for sure. I kept holding on to the thought of enjoying Cendol Durian @ Bibik's house to motivate me through that 'lautan manusia'. Unfortunately, the heavens have decided that I've already eaten too much for the day and it was totally sold out once we reached there.

Luckily we had some entertainment to cheer ourselves up that night. A huge stage was erected in the middle of Jonker Walk for a '1Malaysia' [~~gulp!~~] event to celebrate Ali Rustam's 10th year ~~in power~~ as Ketua Menteri Melaka and Jonker Walk's 10th year anniversary.

Basically, it was a Chinese karoeke session.

All in all,
we had a great trip and a marvellous time. Good food, good company, what more could you ask for. Definitely have to head down again soon to get that Cendol Durian.

Me'ah drove us all back to KL that night, and later confessed that she too had fallen in ❤ with Mr Wiggie. Just as Miss Temah did during our Tenggol trip a few months back.

Mr Wiggie, you are definitely my unsung hero.

Sago Cendol @ Jonker Dessert 88

I read somewhere that you should never leave Melaka without having at least 1 bowl of cendol. Thus, during my recent trip to Melaka with my colleagues I insisted on stopping for Cendol despite our tight schedule ("it'll be a sin not to" i said).

That's how I discovered Jonker Dessert 88.

the to-die-for sago cendol (RM3.00)

The cendol was simply delicious!! Super thick gula melaka and creamy santan (i'd like to think that it's 0% fat) - one of the best I ever had. Reasonably priced too - RM1.70 for normal cendol and RM3.00 for cendol durian, cendol sago and etc.

Our journey to Tangkuban Parahu, 01/01/10

"Tangkuban Perahu, or Tangkuban Parahu in local Sundanese dialect, is an active volcano 30 km north of the city of Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java, Indonesia. It is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs upclose, and buy eggs cooked on its hot surface. This stratovolcano is on the island of Java and last erupted in 1983.

Local Legend of the Mountain

The name translates roughly to "upturning of (a) boat" or "upturned boat" in Sundanese, referring to the local legend of its creation. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a beauty who lived in West Java. She cast away her son "Sangkuriang" for disobedience, and in her sadness was granted the power of eternal youth by the gods. After many years in exile, Sangkuriang decided to return to his home, long after the two had forgotten and failed to recognize each other. Sangkuriang fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and planned to marry her, only for Dayang Sumbi to recognize his birthmark just as he was about to go hunting. In order to prevent the marriage from taking place, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to (1) build a dam on the river Citarum and (2) build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang meditated and summoned mythical ogre-like creatures -buta hejo or green giant(s)- to do his bidding. Dayang Sumbi saw that the tasks were almost completed and called on her workers to spread red silk cloths east of the city, to give the impression of impending sunrise. Sangkuriang was fooled, and upon believing that he had failed, kicked the dam and the unfinished boat, resulting in severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban perahu from the hull of the boat."

How the sky looked like after all the kembang api. Simply beautiful ;)

After the celebrations, we headed towards a nearby coffee joint for a late night drink session
[and of course more cam-whoring sessions].

Tanggal semingguan yang lalu, embahnya Me'ah, Temah, Chacha [adinda pada Cik Temah], Odah and Enon telah menaiki pesawat ErEsa untuk merentasi Selat Karimata dan Lautan Jawa dengan tujuan berlibur ke kota Bandung, yakni ibukota provinsi Jawa Barat.

Dahulunya,

H.A.N.G.M.A.N. - Part 2

It has been a year since we came up with this H.A.N.G.M.A.N. thingy. I remember it clearly - we were all sipping our Frappucinos at the Starbucks in Uptown on a Christmas morning. We then realised that our friends are all getting hitched one by one (some slowly, but surely) and that we are the only ones left - thus, the birth of H.A.N.G.M.A.N.

Status? To-date, all remains status quo. None of us would be (or even close to) tying the knot soon.

Remember this entry? Didn't happened. I'm now 80% sure that we're cursed..hehe..

MALAKOFF RUN 20th December 2009

MALAKOFF RUN.
The final run for 2009. Boy, we did quite a few this year eh. Not bad at all :)

Q: Run the bloody Malakoff or get our asses smacked big time by Kiah?
A (Team 1, in unison) : Give us Malakoff anytime!

So we didn’t make it on time to register for The ‘Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway’ run. Sob sob.

Heck! The Toblater Instructor, Kiah (TTI not TYI ok, though the resemblence is uncanny) was gonna be furious as she told us many times to do so before she left for Nepal.
Temah phoned yours truly and Esah and then quickly signed us all up for Malakoff Run instead.
7km for Esah and 12km for the rest. Hopefully TTI will be less angry – fingers crossed!

12km? Sigh. We can do it baby! – That was me talking to my well-fed belly. I’ve not been running/ exercising regularly nowadays. Urgghhhh. Things I do for you, Kiah/ TTI!

Dec 19- Driving back from Temerloh. Postcall and wet from playing netball with hospital staffs under the drizzling rain .(These people can be very kiasu when playing)
I phoned Temah only to hear - “Don’t forget Malakoff tomorrow!”
O: OMG I forgot, like seriously tak tipu, man! And my shoes are wet!
T: Jangan nak mengada. Blow dry your shoes, and if they’re still wet come tomorrow, you can always wear my spare shoes.
O: Hmmmmm…..Like can fit only. We’ll see la how.
What else could I say?

Dec 20 (Race day): Woke up early. The skies threatened, but the rain held off. Why la why. So I drove to the usual meet up place. Temah’s.
Esah sent in excessively sentimental text messages that morning telling us she doesn’t feel good lah, not ready to run 7k lah, will go to Kiara Park later and run by herself lah yada yada yada.
Did we buy that? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

So off we go. As usual arriving pretty late.

We had a nice breakfast at the usual after-run lepak place, Village Park. Had some guilt-free meals while catching up/gossiping. Nice.

Flasher, Flasher, Flasher

When I was studying at an all-girls boarding school over a decade ago, I remember that there were several times when students had reported to Cik Aishah or Ustazah Noor Einee, Chief Warden and Assistant Warden respectively that they saw a male showing off and stroking his willy without being ashamed of himself in front of them. As for me, yes I was privileged enough at that time to have reported one similar case to Cik Aisah - we were young and naive, excuse me, and so cocooned up in our own world. So it was unacceptable for someone to flash his/her genital organs to the public!

Anyway, this usually happens when the students were at the surau - at the part where the retaining wall literally connects to the world outside (read: hostel life was akin to prison life to some girls. So imagine having a building that has a wall which connects itself to the outside world, regardless that the 'outside world' means one has to go through knee-high bushes, lalang yang tinggi and longkang besar!). To outsiders, to view my school's surau from behind the wall would be a cool thing to do, especially for men who are very sick in their minds with the intention to mengendap budak-budak perempuan hingusan yang tak tahu apa-apa at that time. This part of the surau was the most favourite spot amongst the senior students as it is in fact very secluded, especially during Ramadhan month whereby you can sleep here without getting caught by Ustazah Noor Einee or the prefects when you feel tired during Tadarus al-Quran.

Before the school put up a retaining wall (before they receive numerous complaints from the students on men showing off their willies in the public), the outside world was only separated by a 5-feet green fence (Ye ke on this facts? Lupalah!).

You see, I am no longer 17 (but my age never passes 25, ehem!) and living in a hostel but to have encountered a similar incident recently on seeing an unknown male stroking his willy vigorously, flashing it without shame, at my favourite jogging place was absurdly shocking!

That Monday evening, Diba, Senah and myself decided to walk at Lake Gardens (LG). We were considerably late when we started walking to LG from the Bank. We thought it would be fine because we (think) know the place quite well. So off we went although it was getting dark. Halfway through our walk/jog/gossip session, we heard noises from a small hill above us. We looked up in unison and holy schmolly, we saw a man was stroking his willy, in very fast motion, like no one's business. He was stripped naked but covered his face with a red/pink coloured cloth, leaving some space for his eyes. He had a small torch hanging down his waist (despite being naked) and his body was quite fair, as compared to me-lah! Oh man, a flasher - they still exist!

Damn, I took one look and when I saw that he was stroking his willy (maybe hoping to climax by the time we look up), I turned my head away and told the girls "Maybe we should run a bit?"

Senah who was intrigued in the first place, got her eyes glued at the man all the time - looking at him up and down repeatedly. However, she finally relented to run after thinking that the man could kejar us from behind. Diba, on the other hand, if I could describe how a perfect example of a delayed reaction would be, decided to look at the man again and again whilst running! She said the man was smiling when he saw us running. What an asshole! Nasib baik the man decided to stay put on the hill and tak turun kejar. Kalau kejar, korang will not be hearing from us anymore.

After the lake, we saw a group of Chinese uncles who had just finished exercising. Hmmm...maybe it could be one of them? Oh tidak, don't think so-lah!

We could not make out of the whole situation although we reported about the incident to the Pak Guard at LG. Sigh, there is very little that they can do because they have heard about flashers roaming around LG for quite sometime now. So we were not the only victims. This is Malaysia for you.

By the time we reached the Bank, it was very dark. We were safe nonetheless but we cannot forget until today how the flasher flashed his willy at us. For full description in terms of size and colour, maybe Senah can give better descriptions on that!

Senah & the gang met The Duke

On 21st November 2009, Team 2 for the first time ever, managed to have full corum team activity. Senah and her babies :) went to Duk3 h1ghways for 5km Duk3thon. As our tshirts stated, we were one of the first to set on foot on the latest h1ghway in KL. Just for clarification, I am not the last to step off the h1ghway..thanks to the rest of the categories that started slightly after us "the normal male &female category". As I was walking / running, i can see a lot of senior citizen marath0ners (is there such a word?) running, leaving me behind..ahaha...its okay, they are senior citizen..they have been running ages ago.. i baru nak start..ahaha..alasan..

Half way through the journey, we saw some already nearing the finishing line, (alah..nih yg x dapat nak masok P3nang marathon, tuh yg rasa diri hebat, sebab all the greater runner, semua masok the p3nang one..)hahaha..saja dengki kan.

Nonetheless, we made it to the finishing line where Senah and Enon waited for Gayah and I to make it nearer to the finishing line, so that we can run together to it – just for the sake of photog moment..gila glam u..haha.malangnya, don’t think our pictures were taken..darn another group yg lagi gila glam in front of us.hhaahah..

We were excited because since now the run finished, we can finally take the ride on the hot air balloon (Gayah and I were looking forward to this)..Unfortunately, the hot air balloon dah kempis dah pun..dah siap lipat okay...I was so frustrated!!!!..i really want to ride on one..hmm.. where can i get to ride one?hmm..anyone?

p/s: I still believe that though Enon said she cannot run like true marathoners, I choose not to agree with that. She still have all her bask3tballer nature inside her..She can run ok!!! Darn..now left me alone..hish hish..itula..dulu masok cad3t jek..dah x fit. Ish!!! Well..let’s wait for M1r1..you never know suddenly hiking dlm hutan :-P bluerghh...tulis aje pun dah nak rasa muntah ok.

White Water Rafting

2 weekends ago, Enon and her 2 friends, Reiny & Azie went White Water Rafting along Kampar River. Enon and her friends met up at ~~exactly~~ 7.00am and drove up north the PLUS highway for 90 minutes heading towards Gopeng. After taking the Gopeng toll exit, turn left at traffic light, and then take another left when you see the sign to Kampung Chulek. Drive through the village road which is not signposted [Beware of chicken and children!] until you reach a metal bridge. Then keep going 500m, then you will finally arrive at the Earth Camp, which is Nomad Adventure's eco-friendly campsite and meeting point.

The adventure package we selected consists of White Water Rafting + Rope deal [which you can choose from a variety of activities eg. Abseiling, Flying Fox, Leap of Faith, High Ropes course, etc]. Our day started out with a 15min ride to the upstream stretch of Kampar River on a lorry [and yes, I did feel like one of the bunch of I**ons/ B***la workers I usually see transported in lorries back in KL] which was full of back stretches and head blocks trying to avoid tree twigs and rambutan leaves from giving you a tight slap in the face. Miss Azie did manage to get 'bitch-slapped' by Mother Nature that morning. It was damn hilarious! Hahaha.. The driver managed to stop for a while to allow us to pluck some fresh rambutans right from the tree, which was very sweet and 'lekang'.

Once upstream, we were given a short briefing by our main guide, Apeng [I think that's how its spelt]. Rafting basic commands, tips on how to swim in rapids, how to hold the paddle, stuff like that. We were lucky that it was a small group seeing that it was the Eid Al-Adha weekend. Basically there were only 2 rafts, the 3 of us + 2 guides [Fariz + Andy] on Raft 7 and 3 White guys + 1 guide [Apeng] on the other. So, we could go at our own pace and not worry about overcrowding of the river bends.

We then had to lift our own raft to the riverbank and perform a water confidence test, which consist of letting yourself drift in the rapids, heading downstream and then swim across the river current to the opposite riverbank. And I ~~performed successfully~~ had to be pulled in against the current with a rope by the guides [just as EVERYONE else was after that! haha]. And it was definitely good entertainment watching the others struggle through the rapid current! Just like watching WipeOut on AXN, only difference is that its LIVE! [Boy, was I glad to be the earlier ones to perform the test!]

After completing the task, it was now time for the actual rapids. We were told that the Kampar River was rated a Grade 3 in rafting difficulty [don't ask me about the grading system, I know nuts about it]. It started out with a few soft bends/ drops which was a nice intoduction. Then we had to face a few big bends before which Andy [our main guide] asked us if we wanted to capsize the raft. Reiny and I simultaneously answered YES! You should have seen Azie's face when we did. So Andy was then giving commands, positioning the raft into the most likely position to capsize. Unfortunately, we were too good at manouvering the raft that the raft DIDN'T capsize, but Fariz DID fall out of the raft [mind you, Fariz actually fell out about 5 times throughout the whole trip!]. Disappointed, we had to fake our own capsize which was fun nonetheless. Midway down the river [total of which was a 6km journey] we stopped for a quick break, had a quick swim in the refreshing cool waters and jumped off an outstretched tree limb. The feeling was totally AWESOME!

We were back at the Earth Camp by 1pm, in time for lunch and a quick shower before our afternoon rope session where we opted to do abseiling.

Off to Nomad Adventure's Mountain School [where the abseiling was done] at 2pm, we were to climb a 25m rock and abseil down its wall. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera to the Mountain School hence no chance of storing some photographic evidence. Azie definitely got her 'Mojo' going at this venture, she went twice and even abseiled with inverted descent "Mission Impossible style" which is head down first [and so did Reiny!]

I didn't quite get the excitement of abseiling so I only went once. And I think Apeng felt guilty, so he offered us to try the High Rope course, which is a combination of various 'jambatan gantung' [probably also because we were the only ones there at the Mountain school and we finished abseiling so quickly].

Long overdue post - Terry Fox Run 2009

I have been slacking, I know. I should have posted an entry on the above straightaway after the event but I did not have the luxury of time to do so. Then, came the BIG TRIP (in my life) to Nepal whereby I know, I owe you an entry (or entries) on that. Now that I am slowly starting back to my mundane and routine life in KL, things that were exciting back then do not excite me anymore (or rather, too many things happening after one another would make your mind so muddled and you don't know whether to start afresh or leave them as they are).

Do enjoy the pictures taken using my trusty ol' camera. It was a hot day that day and I'm proud that Esah completed her run/walk/run in full, with me tagging behind her all along. May this be a start to new things in you, Esah!

The search for LBD ('Little' Black dress)

Ok ok..the term 'little' is a bit off. It shd be read as The search for a 'curvaceous/big boned ladies' (yes, im in denial) black dress :P

Anyway there i was last week, happily searching high and low for a nice LBD for our company annual dinner with the theme Glittering Black & White. Happy is not the word. It's more of, 'Shit. Why does all the dresses i try to fit in muat takat2 peha aku je ni?'

There must be mistake. The label says loud and clear, size XL. I can fit in, right? WRONG! Unless you are the skinny, flat chested, no bontot kinda girl ...in Malaysia, you can absolutely walk in to any kedai (read:lil boutique shops, bazaar, online shop etc) and fit in any of the clothes.

You see, I've allocated a small budget for the annual dinner dress (nothing above RM150). So instead of going to the mall, i opted to buy at the small boutiques or online. Plus the risk of another person wearing the same dress like me is minimal. Clever kan i?

It took me 5 days to find the right dress with no avail. Bohoo!I've surveyed ALL boutiques in uptown..heck I even went to the rent-a-costume shop in Hartamas, mana tau boleh laaa dapat a nice ala Audrey hepburn dress. Hermp, kena gelakkan adalah ..sebab most of the baju I tak boleh zip! *sob sob*

Finally, after a hearty korean bbq chicken and a second round of boutique survey at uptown (dah lah hujan on that Saturday) ... the dress has finally found me!haha. Mwaks mwaks to Senah & O-dah for being there with me :))

Trust me, If I was not the emcee for the night, I won't even come to the annual dinner. I'm just too lazy to deal with finding a dress, doing hair & make up, the nervous breakdown before going on stage etc etc etc...

Hermm, Im thinking of selling my dress (as seen in pic above). Hey, maybe the Toblaters shd start selling some pre-loved clothes, cater especially for the curvaceous/big boned ladies eh? Siapa nak beli my black/white dress, angkat tangan!

When Lazybum meet kitchen

I am on leave today. Just decided to take it on Monday. My colleagues asking my why the sudden leave. To tell you the truth, I don’t even know. My heart told me to take leave, then my brain straight away processing it, and asking my hand to click on our online page for leave application, and submit. Of course before that I played with my calendar to see which day in the week I don’t have any important meeting. Wednesday it is.

Anyway, since I didn’t plan anything for Wednesday leave, so I just lazying around..doing nothing. Surfing the net, watching tv, make few phone calls, then I decided...hmmm...since I am doing nothing, why don’t I cook dinner for C0mb1. Great idea huh!! :)

Then I happily went to my kitchen and make crispy tomato mee for our dinner...it is one of my favourite..of course C0m’s as well. My mother’s recipe with a twist..it is a twist because I am too lazy to go out, so I just use whatever I have in my kitchen.ahahah...and i want to share with others. It is so senang one...you can tutup mata masak ok.

First, u need,
chicken, (today chicken so sikit, so I add sausages) – add with white or black pepper, ginger and sauces to give it a taste.

the vege gang – cauliflower, carrots, broccoli (i x ade broccoli, so i skip)

tomato & chilli sauce
chilli giling
onion & ginger.
crispy mee

Then, u put onion in the periuk, let it simmer until the smell comes, then u add the chicken, after a while, add water and sauces & chilli giling. Then add carrot. Let it boil for a while, then add cauliflower. Keep on tasting and add sauces as necessary.
Lastly, add corn flour so that the soup will thicken.
Then u pour on top of crispy mee (you need to fry it a bit to ensure it is crispy.) Then voila..siap sudah. Easy kan :)

Somehow we did it, again!
It may not be in one of the country's top-selling newspapers
(like HM! which surprisingly has a wide range of loyal readers),
but to be on the sign-on page of the intranet in a Multinational Corporation,
it's still something to be ~~proud~~ joyful of, I think! ;D

This was during the Terry Fox Run on November 1st 2009. Our own camerawoman for the event is out of the country (Kiah, we miss you!), hence our pictures will only be uploaded once she's back from Nepal.
I'd love to tell the whole story, but without the pictures the story just wouldn't be complete.

Starting All Over

I can't believe my leave is almost over. It's already Wednesday and I would have to haul myself to the Office in 4 days. Boohoo! Not looking forward to that. Sure I'm boooorrreeedd out of my wits from staying in for too long. Heck, since I'm back from the Brother's house last Friday, not once did I ever step out from the front door. (Ohhh, there's that one time where I waved Dad goodbye, but it was, hurmmm 5 mins max?) ... But being confined to the house sure beats going to the office anytime! (HAHA. Do I hate my job so much? I wonder..)

So, what does a girl do when she's on house-arrest for 2 weeks? Watch loads of ANTM - cycle 11,12 and 13 on Youtube (my guilty pleasures ;p), stalk other people on Facebook and surf the world wide web on anything and everything. If surfing the net is a job, I'd be a billionaire by now.

Since I'm a wee bit behind from the rest of the girls in TBL quest, I figured I probably should step-up a bit and do some research on weight loss/healthy food etc. (Senahhh, are you proud of me or whattt???)

I registered for Jillian Michael's 'FREE Weight Loss Plan' and was then assessed based on 8-9 question questionnaire, the result was nothing that I don't already know! The REAL weight loss plan will only be made available to me for USD4/week. :P I should know better than falling for the marketing plans. Now all I get in return is newsletters spamming my mailbox once in a while.

Yes, I know... I should be sleeping right now because in less than 4 hours or so my taxi will be picking me up to the airport. I cannot sleep as I have just finished packing my stuff into one big, big duffel bag (I think the bag weighs heavier than me!) plus am nursing a cough - been having it since Saturday.

I promised to upload the pictures from Terry Fox Run 2009 held last Sunday to the girls but I think I will have to postpone it until I come back from Nepal.

Will be thinking of you girls during the trek (especially Senah because she decided to jual mahal not to join the trip this time).

Two years ago, Kiah and I spent 24 days in Nepal - Discovering the Himalayan region, scaling the peaks of Gokyo Ri & Kalapattar and reaching Everest Base Camp.

Due to work commitments, I had to forgo the adventure this time around. How I wish I could be there again with my bff to revisit the land that transformed a girly girl into a err..err...less of a girly girl.

Team #2 Walks for World Pink

To show our support for breast cancer awareness (and as part of our strategy to lose the lbs), Team 2 joined the Walk for World Pink, one of the activities in the Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Malaysia 2009.

The 3.8km walk, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of self-breast examination, was held on the 3rd of October at the KL Tower base. Here's a pictorial account of our day...

Hostage at The Table

Senah and I went for a short talk by Prof. George Kohlrieser yesterday. I was reluctant at first, because I am not a fan of human behavioral books i.e self-help, self-development, etc. Nevertheless, I went after receiving an email from my boss asking everyone in my department to go. I went with an open mind - I have tried so hard to declutter my mind for the past weeks mainly because I was so inundated with work and yesterday was one of those days that I managed to do it (it could be on temporary basis only, shit!).

The talk was fun! I enjoyed it every minute because Prof. Kohlrieser was, to say in a very few words, very good. He is an international leadership professor, consultant, and veteran hostage negotiator (which was the reason why Senah went to the talk) and currently attached at IMD Business School in Geneva, Switzerland. His talk was based from his book "Hostage at The Table" which shows us how to -

(a) Put the "Fish on the Table" to resolve conflict

(b) Learn to bond, even with your "enemy"

(d) Tap into the power of dialogue and negotiation

(e) Access the law of reciprocity to build cooperation

(f) Be a secure base to establish trust

(g) Understand that the person is never the problem

(h) Master the mind's eye and visualize success

Prof. Kohlrieser somewhat asked us to believe in ourselves and never give up if you want to achieve something in your lives - say you want to be a singer, keep pursuing it until you finally become one!

Senah and I were inspired that we immediately came up with things we want to pursue (but were never serious about it before). There are 1001 things that I want to do/pursue but as a start, I wish to pursue my long-forgotten piano class (hahaha) and for Senah, well I will ask her to elaborate herself. I stopped learning piano when I went to SSP in 1994. There was Ms. Renee who at that time could teach us piano, but she was the choir teacher too. I didn't pursue my interest then, let alone approached her to be my piano teacher.

Recently, when I went to Kedah for my cousin's wedding, my partner in crime, Ika asked me to play a piece by Richard Clayderman. She too has started learning piano but decided to stop for a while as she is scared with her piano teacher. She has finished her elementary level and started with Grade 1 but since she really liked the Clayderman song, she asked me to play from my tattered Clayderman book that she took from my house last year.

My fingers were numbed at first, struggling to find the right keys of the notes and was cursing myself for not being able to read the notes properly anymore (had to pause for a few times on the keys!). We spent our time practising the song and managed to make it sound decent despite the off-keys on some parts. Ika played one octave lower and I'll take the bigger octave (she is playing it by ear and memory as she does not know how to read the complicated Clayderman's notes) and after 3 days, I managed to play the whole song! I was so inspired to continue playing the piano at that time!

I think Prof. Kohlrieser has given me hope to continue my piano lessons, no? He told us that one of his friends, an ex-CEO of Accenture, decided to take up guitar lessons at the age of 47 but was told not to proceed because his hands were too hard. He took it as a challenge and continued his guitar lessons (with another teacher, of course) for 4 years and when Prof. Kohlrieser visited him sometime back, his performance moved Prof. Kohlrieser to tears.

I'm calling Yamaha School of Music now, to see whether they would want to welcome a mature student like me anytime. Hehehehe...

I laughed THAT hard when I saw the class picture. 5 out of 8 Toblaters were together in the first form (sans Temah, Rokiah & Enon). Well, 6 including Mess, of course.

We have Odah & Esah to thank - for being bright/creative/mischievous 13 year old, who coined up TOBLATER. Maybe if they are up for it, they'll blog about how it came about - the history behind 'TOBLATER'. That's 15 years worth of history for you. (Ey Esah/Odahh~~?)

Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. And who would've thought I'd grow up to be 30kg heavier since 1994! (I imagined I was 40kg then - but not really sure of that though. HAHA. Maybe heavier/lighter? But ohh let's just pretend I was 40kg!). Out of curiosity, to other Toblaters, how much did you guys gain since 1994??? :D :D

Since I'm about 155cm, my ideal weight would be 47kg. Oh gawddd, I can't remember when I was ever below 50kg. (*Gulp* This would be a lot harder than I thought) Ok Senah, I'm all set to work out for Bali! Get Team 2 rollinn'! Roki has already drawn up Team 1's workout regime! This cannot jadi ok. We should be all gung-ho too!

You peeps just watchouttt for my 23 kg transformation! HAHAHAHAHHAAH

O-dah's very first entry. Oh yes it is! Toblaters hv been pestering me to start writing, so here I am. (Just read Rokiah's entry and suddenly I feel the urge to write a little. She always gets my ass moving that girl)

Note: She rang me just now. Definitely wanna nag me about yesterday la tu (Will call u back Rock, I'm using my colleague's PC, she'll be back for it very soon)

Aha, my open house yesterday was ok. It drizzled a bit, for about 15minutes in the afternoon but that was it. Thank you for all who came. And ate.

Plus yesterday was TBL's weigh-in session. Team 2 won...Hermmmppp, guess who was the biggest 'gainer'? HAHAHAHAHAHAA

Dunno what's happening but my love towards food is growing extensively huge, gigantic, jumbo, king-size, kingkong whatever u wanna call it. Ggggrrrrrrr.....I can stuff my face with foods 24/7, and u wanna know what's worse? ---> FOOD(SSS), they come to me!!

Seriously no kidding yo! This has to stop! Foods, stop flying your way to my doorstep!

I'll try and behave allright. We'll see how I progress, thank you! :)

On a completely different note, to all readers, I am , very serious at work laaahhhh Rokiah....(better write this since I can see potential of my pictures being pasted here now the blog's gone public).

But I am, yes, very comfortable to act all goofy with people closest to me ( i.e family and close friends). So don't worry, I'm professional ok :p

Post Session 3 - Update 1

So we had our 3rd weigh-in session at Odah's house just now. This time around, as the keeper of Miss J(udge) the weighing scale, I happily (Team 1 reads : painfully) announce that Team 2 is the winner for Session 3 - what more with only 2 determined girls left but with the same one and only super kiasu instructor! Congratulations girls! Keep it up and we shall see which Team will be the winner next month as it is now 1 : 1 to date.

However, as the Instructor for Team 1, let me clear the air that we have never pandang rendah to Team 2 for all your efforts done. However, the recent Walk With Pride (?) thingy that you girls went WITHOUT informing (or rather giving any hints, hehe) us, made Team 1 thinks that the TBL is indeed a serious business, especially when it comes to winning. Who would have thought that we were so serious into this when all of you were at my house sometime back in August. So be it. Team 1 takes it as a challenge and despite us not winning this time around, we will, as true sportsmen, never give up and continue to hold on to the saying "perseverance, persistance and determination". So, watch out! Hahaha (*shakes my head in disbelief after writing this paragraph*)

Enough about the Session 3 report, shall we?

I have never really introduced my Team in this blog. Some of you readers would have seen my Team based on the header picture in wordpress.com but really, are not you curious at all to know a little bit more of them? (read : if you are a single guy, the better it is!)

Candidate 1 : Odah

She is nothing near serious. I hope she is not like her trueself whenever she is with her patients. We have been running together in marathons for the past 1 1/2 years but workload has taken a toll on her lately and hence, we have not been seeing each other that much. Despite her mountainous workload, I hope she takes off some time to exercise and do not binge on too much carbs whenever she is stressed at work -she should at least be a bit more serious about her health in general. Otherwise, she cracks you up like no one's business and if she wins the TBL, she can be the next Malaysia's Top Model Search! Hahahaha, love ya Odah!

Candidate 2 : Temah

Temah and I stay near to each other. We ran, scuba dived, exchanged beauty secrets, etc regularly. She is the complete opposite of Odah - at least she is serious to a certain extent! Nevertheless, don't trust her much on her navigational skills as oh boy, you could end up in Port Klang for no reason (no, thank god she has not done that to me yet). She once told me that she loves eating (is there such a hobby?) but fret not Tems, you can still have your sweet cakes, muffins and cupcakes but you will have to promise me that you will make sure you balance them out with bouts of exercise. Otherwise, we should continue doing our Super Sakit Circuit every Saturday as we both love it (yes, to a certain extent!). You will get the hang of it real soon.

Candidate 3 : Esah

Esah and I go way back. We used to talk on the phone for hours on irrelevant things. She is not a fan of running but give her Kiara Hills anytime, she could beat you 2 rounds of it with a breeze. She is our ambasadress whenever we need our coffee, frappe, latte, etc at an infamous coffee-chain organisation. I am glad that I invited her for a walk/run session at Lake Gardens last Saturday. It was her first time there and hopefully there are more to come after this. She won the first individual TBL monthly title during Session 2 (now succeeded by Enon) and with such record, I hope she will fight back and never give up!

Well, as much as I would love to give out more info on Team 1, it has got to be filtered. As for me, there is no need for any introduction, please - instructor works behind the scene, yeah! I am currently in the midst of planning a workout regime (hahaha) for my Team asap. I hope they will not play truant when I am not around for 3 weeks in November.

No More Superhuman Senses

You see, those who knew me would know how bad my sense of smell is. I would sneeze so very often, and my bestfriend would be a box of Kleenex. Since its costly to keep up, my nose has been trained well to accommodate toilet rolls and even the hard tissues that the Office provide in the pantry..Therefore, it was a strange almost alien-like feeling when I suddenly, during the past 2 months was able to smell MORE things than what I normally would. The masam-ness of Vill@ge P@rk's waiter's shirt and it's stinky kain lap meja was the most recent that I encounter.

I was pregnant. And it was the most magical & surreal feeling ever.

And last night when I found out that it was over, despite preparing myself mentally over and over about it, there's nothing that the doc or the husband could say to stop my sobbing or even make me feel better. The husband knows me well enough. He didn't have to say much and just held my hands throughout and we just hugged for longest time once we were back home.

It was heartbreaking. My chest felt it would burst right open, I just can't quite describe. But now here I am. Still feeling pretty crappy, just... much much better .

Was supposed to go for check-up tomorrow with another doc. (Shoot! Which reminds me I should cancel it now!) So you bet I had a different plans altogether on how to break the news on Toblater - coupled with a cute cute sonogram of my 10 weeks foetus. (Right~~ before Beyonce & the weigh-in!!) I even wanted to knight MessAziz as an official Toblatorian to replace me! I probably still should, I am so far off, I can't catch up the the girls any more. Sorry Team 2!

I saw fireworks on our way back last night. I've always loved fireworks. I take it that is God's way to let me know it's all going to be all right..and to just cheer me up a notch. That AND the fact that Benyonce's been cancelled.. hehe. Would expect loose waterworks every now and then in the next few weeks. But don't feel so bad for me girls. I'm pretty much set to be positive. Ohhhmmmmmm!

Yes, it's one week away from today, my dear TBLs!

You can run, breeze walk, puasa or starve yourselves as much as you like for the next one week (or better still, hoping for it to be cancelled! Teehehhe) but Session 3 is still on, y'all!

I will bring the Judge (the dreaded weighing scale-lah!) to Odah's house next week and Session 3 will be held there. As Odah is organising an open house that day, please do not forget to come and bring extra clothes for the....

Woke up to the soothing morning breeze and chirping sounds of the birds (And soooo relieved it wasn't the squeaky sounds of Mr Rat!). Our final dive of the trip, was to go where the James Bond movie Moon Raker was shot (or so I was told). I'm obviously not a J. Bond buff, so I couldn't tell fact from fiction. For more info on the 11th installation of the James Bond spy movie series starring Roger Moore (not Sean Connery yo!), click here.

And so we started getting ready to go to this relatively new dive site, The Moonraker. It's reef apparantly stands 10m tall and has amazing nudibranches. This was the most relaxing dive throughout the whole trip and I really enjoyed myself this dive.

Back on surface, we freshened up and made our farewell bids to all.

and it was time to head back to Dungun

On the drive home, we made a pit stop at Dungun town for some Nasi Kukus Ayam Rempah which was excellent but soooooo the pedas!!

We then stopped for some keropok lekor shopping at Geliga (Temah ;P) Pantai Mak Nik atau nama Mat Salleh nye, Monica Bay. No joke, Monica Bay.

And freshly made Satar Bakar with Keropok Lekor was our final pitstop in Terengganu.

And so that concludes our Tenggol trip! We had great fun, thanks to all the divers and organisers. Can't wait to go diving again, but the thought of having to wait till next year just kills me!!!!!!!
